Louise Hansen studied art at the University of Southern Mississippi and pursued a career in commercial art. Beginning as a graphic artist for Mississippi Engraving Company, she moved on as a fashion illustrator for Rubensteins in Shreveport and McRae's in Jackson, Mississippi and later as Advertising Manager for Gayfers in Jackson Mississippi.
She moved to Baton Rouge in 1984 and with the exception of some freelancing, retired from commercial work. Although Louise has always enjoyed drawing in pen and ink, since retiring from commercial work she has also been studying watercolor and sometimes combines the two media.
Louise has won many awards for her watercolors as well as her pen and ink drawings. For her pen and ink drawings Louise has won 1st place in Ascension Parish Bicentennial Show 2007, Honorable Mention in the Awesome Art Show at Houmas House in 2006 and 2007 and Peoples Choice in the Louisiana Art and Artists' Guild's Member Show in 2007.
