Laure Williamson Workshop Information
Supplies
There will be a still life set up for beginners, but those who are more advanced who wish to work on landscape should bring photos.
- Oil Paints
- If you must choose between two colors, get the lighter more intense one. If a color has the word "HUE" on it's label, it is not an original color, but a composite which can be made from other colors on the palette. Ex: Cerulean Blue Hue is made from Thalo Blue and Zinc White. If you cannot afford the original color, get the hue. These are the recommended colors:
- White - Zinc and Titanium
- Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow
- A brilliant red (WN Red, Grumbacher Red)
- Cadmium Orange or a brilliant Orange
- Venitian Red
- Alizarin Crimson
- Ultramarine Blue
- Thalo Blue or Green
- Yellow Ochre
- Burnt Umber
- Magenta
- Ivory Black (for making green)

- Solvent
- Please bring only odorless solvent. Mona Lisa is a good brand for that.
- Medium
- A medium to mix with paint can be made with stand oil and odorless solvent. This will be discussed on the first day of class. Please do not bring odorous solvents.
- Brushes
- Pig's bristle is what you want. This is better for oil paint than synthetic brushes.
- Order of quality might be: Robert Simmons, Winsor Newton, Grumbacher, Daniel Smith, "Silver" Brand (a good buy)
- Filberts: #10, #8, #6
- Rounds: #6, #2 (no smaller)
- Palette Knife
- Grumbacher carries a good line made in Italy (Two are better than one - one large and one smaller)
