2008 is going to be an exciting year for LAAG. Many thanks to the new and on-going board members - LAAG can't do it without the hard work and creativity of such dedicated people.
We are currently working on starting up another chapter in Clinton, LA.
Next month we will have a free hands-on workshop for non-members on Sunday, February 17, 1 - 4 p.m. Please invite a friend to check us out and let them see if art is as fun as it looks.
We are currently working on getting more gallery space at BREC’s main office building and hope to be hanging there by the end of the year. When this happens we will be able to have solo and small group shows besides our regular exhibits.
The judged shows this year have an increased amount of prize money - $500 per show.
We have many great workshops lined up in 2008, and Tony Couch is coming in 2009!
At our next reception, Sunday, February 3, 2-4, Lane Downs and Roberta Loflin will talk about a planned “art safari” in the near future. We have been invited to have a paint-out at Cabela’s Store near Tanger Mall. This will be a fun opportunity to draw and paint animals.
Our library looks great and keeps growing – when you do check out books and tapes, etc. remember to return them after one month so others may check them out. Please return any books checked out in 2007 by the end of January.
Participation has its rewards:
Members that help with the operations of LAAG will be rewarded by a year-end drawing for a certificate of $100 towards the workshop of their choice. Come to our next board meeting, Monday, February 4, 6:30pm and find out how you can become more involved. We need your ideas and feedback to make LAAG the best it can be.
Upcoming events:
Take in for "Let's Create for 2008" on Thursday, January 24, 1 - 3:30 p.m.
The Reception will be on Sunday, February 3, 2 - 4 p.m., and will feature a presentation on upcoming Art Safari.
Board Meeting on Monday, February 4, 6:30 p.m. All members are welcome.
Free hands-on workshop for non-members, Sunday, February 17, 1 - 4 p.m. Invite your friends!
