HEAR and BE HEARD at the first quarterly ALL MEMBERS MEETING. We need your opinions! How can LAAG best serve you? More Workshops? What kind? Field-trips? Pet Portrait Day?

The ALL MEMBERS MEETING will be on Sunday, March 16, at 1:00 pm in the Studio in the Park, 2490 Silverest Ave., Baton Rouge.

Paint Wild at Cabela's on Tuesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 20 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Here's a great opportunity to capture wild life! Cabela's is a huge store with many museum-quality displays featuring incredible animals interacting in realistic re-creations of their natural habitats. Displays include several huge aquariums, an artificial mountainside with goats and sheep, a real airplane suspended from the ceiling and a walk-through depicting many kinds of animals, including those indigenous to Louisiana.

The LANDSCAPES in PASTEL workshop led by Nancy Stutes has room for a few more people. It is Tuesday through Friday, April 15 - 18, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fee is $200.00 for members / $250.00 for nonmembers

Who Do You KNOW? It's very important for LAAG to publicize the workshops, shows and other events. Do you have mailing lists, contact names or other publicity venues? Please contact Tara Mayo, our Publicity chairman.

CHECK OUT the LAAG Library. The DVDs, videotapes, books and magazines have been painstakingly organized and are available for self-checkout. Many thanks to Eve Carmena and Irma Herzog for the hours they spent on this. DVDs and videotapes can be checked out according to instructions on the Card Box. When you return items, put the card in its envelope and put the item back on the shelf in its proper place. The magazines can be borrowed without having to check them out. Please re-shelve returns in the proper order. Eve and Irma are working on reorganizing the books, updating the cards and repairing as needed. When they are finished, the books will also be available for self-checkout. Until then the current method will be used.

Baton Rouge Little Theatre: There are currently 33 paintings on display. Congratulations to Mike MacDonald and Theresa Marchiafava, who recently sold paintings at the BRLT.

Serop's Restaurants: There are 7 paintings on display at the Jefferson location and 8 at the Highland location.

BREC Independence Park Theater: NEW-the Spring Show is coming up. Registered paintings will be received on March 13, the reception is Sunday May 4, and the show closes on May 8. Last month, Calvin Balencie and Louise Hansen sold paintings at BREC Independence Theater.

Paintings on display at the Mayor's office will be changed on Friday May 9.

Calling All Winners! We would like to recognize in the newsletter those of you who have won awards or other distinction at any art shows since the last River Road Show. Please email Robert Coney the name of the show, the distinction won and the title of the winning artwork.
